Terms for the fighting part of the event
“Blows to the Quarters”
– good attacks to the Head and torso only, no arms and legs will
count.
“The Knight of Honor”
– The marshal in charge of fair play, he/she is the honorary RMIC.
He/She will decide if a combatant is playing within the guidelines of
the
spirit of the
L’Esercisio della Spada.
“Tenans”
– the combatants hosting the event and any honored guests that are on
their “team”.
“Venans”
- The combatants that are visiting /attending the event that are not
on the Tenans side.
“The Tree of shields”
– This is the set of placards on a pole that challengers will walk up
to and touch with their sword. Touching a specific placard (shield
shaped) will indicate which type of combat will occur between
parties.

Specific rules
West kingdom rapier combat rules are in
effect; consult with the autocrat or the RMIC for any
questions at the event. All combatants are perceived to be
wearing a shirt/blouse with gloves and breeches/skirt no matter what
armor is worn. The Kingdom of the West is a lightest
touch kingdom. However, fighters may call their blows as they
agree to see fit as long as safety is strictly observed.
Call all killing blows with “GOOD!” or a similar
phrase to signify that the kill has been scored, do not fall
down and die, just call your blow.
There will be No Death from behind.
There will be No double daggers used offensively.
Non-standard weapons not allowed unless approved by
the RMIC or autocrat.
There will be No Tip cuts.

“The Tree of shields“ and the combat forms:
The 4 shields represent the following types of fights to be
done
Argent
Single combats with single sword,
The number of touches/blows received in the quarters will be one, three
or five.
Azure
Single combats with sword and any defense,
The number of touches/blows received in the quarters to be one, three
or five.
Vert
Single combats with a case of swords,
The number of touches/blows received in the quarters to be one, three
or five.
Or
Group encounter, any two or more combatants with Any weapon(s)of choice
from a member of the Gallery, The fight will be team against team.
