Welcome to the presence on the internet for the Shire of Betony Wood, an organization within the Society for Creative Anachronism - a non-profit, historically-minded, educational, and re-creational group. If you are interested in European history from the medieval to the renaissance or anything up to the year 1600 A.D., you might be interested in us. We strive to keep alive the good aspects of those years of history, such as the ideal of Chivalry, period European martial arts, and the peaceful arts and sciences. Our Shire is located in the Kingdom of the West , which covers Northern California, Northern Nevada, Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, and all other Pacific Islands north of Australia and New Zealand. In the Kingdom, we reside within the Principality of Cynagua which includes the Central Valley and North Sierra regions of California as well as Northern Nevada. Finally, the Shire of Betony Wood itself is located in the southeastern portion of the greater Sacramento area.
Our colors are blazoned (in the language of Heraldry): Argent, on a bend sinister Purpur three laurel wreaths argent, two Wood Betony flowers proper. Or in simpler terms: A white background, with a purple diagonal stripe running from the upper left corner to the lower right edge bearing three white laurel wreaths, and with two Wood Betony flowers in their proper colors in the upper right and lower left sections.
We would like to cordially invite you to stay for a few moments and look through our site. If you are interested in knowing more about the SCA or finding out more about us, please feel free to contact any officer or make plans to attend one of our monthly meetings.
